Milan in review

As promised our special review about Milan, a bit late because of the great summer weather here in Berlin right now. So Milan in general is really expensive, but a must see city. Wonderful houses, facades and a nice historic town. The Milanese themself are sadly unfriendly and concerned with their own interests, so do not try to interrupt them.

So here are now our advices/dissuasions for Milan:

- Grab something to eat in the right time. For some inexplicable reason the Milanese do not serve dinner before 7-8 pm, although there would be enough demand (i.e. by tourists).

- Prepare some italian sentences. Because it seems to that the Milanese are more proud and patriotic than the Parisian and won’t talk in english to you, if you aren’t in the cast of fortune of someone who returns your request in some english crumbs.

- Buy a Milan Metro travel pass for one day (3 Euro) or two days (5.5 Euro) to get around. And get a free map from one of the hotels to find your way through the small streets of the city centre. So it’s easy and everything is accessible.

- Good place for coffee: Cafe Radetzky
Apparently the place where the good-looking girls and cool guys hang around, the service was nice and friendly and the Cafe is definitely recommendable.

- Good place for coffee: Lino’s Coffee
We quite don’t know if it’s okay for an Italian to visit a coffee chain, but they’re friendly and the coffee tasted good. Affordable.

- Good place for coffee: Chocolat
Probably best gelati in town, very friendly and good-looking waitresses. Try the cioccolata bianca.

- Do not try: Pizza Flash
As we read on dopplr Milan advices before this restaurant should be nice, cheap and tasty right nearby Duomo. Unfortunately the waiter couldn’t speak any word in English and also after he noticed we can’t order in Italian, he did not give us the english menu for less than 15 minutes. At the end the dinner was quite costly and did not taste as good as any instant food. Sorry, but fail.

(more to come…)
